I heard a radio show talking about a program that airlifts people out from difficult situations. They referenced Haiti and some other recent disaster areas as well as services to bring people in medical predicaments to aid.
The talk show hosts went on and on about the organization's founders and funders and said how great it was that "aircraft" saved people in need.
Really? Just like guns don't kill people, aircraft don't save people. It's the pilots, dude!
And they probably started at a flight school near you.
Thank you to all the brave and hardy souls who work so hard to fly us from point A to point B safely, even when it involves going into disaster zones and challenging weather to do so!
It's not a job for the faint of heart . . .
Go on, Love a Pilot today!

Bird or Machine?
In one of the discussions below, we were talking about "flying like a bird." I have always said that people come into aviation for two reasons, 1) for the freedom and exhilaration of 3D motion like a bird and 2) because they love the engines and noise and wonder of those amazing flying machines.
Agree? Disagree?
For me, I wasn't the kid who watched airplanes and knew every model, I was the kid who watched birds and longed to be free like that. How about you? Were you attracted most to the amazing flying machines or the idea of free-flying?
If you're not a pilot, do either of these two elements attract you?
